Unity Level Designer

Schedule: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST (US Central Time) • Saturday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM CST (US Central Time)
Location: Remote (Work from anywhere!)
Contract: Part-time

Design the spaces where the game actually happens.

We’re building a 3D multiplayer espionage RPG in Unity — a modern revival of a cult-classic that ran for over 20 years and still has a devoted community. We’re not pre-concept or hoping it works. We run public playtests with a live player base, we’re entering festivals (currently sitting in FIRST PLACE at indie games festivals), and we have a tight team of senior developers shipping real systems every single week.

We need a level designer who can turn those systems into maps that sing — spaces where the gameplay comes alive. This is your chance to put a festival-selected, traction-backed studio on your portfolio, and own the maps in a real, shipping multiplayer game.

As our Unity Level Designer, you will:

Work On

  • Designing levels for online multiplayer — flow, cover, sightlines, encounter spaces
  • Integrating maps into the build and bringing in art assets in Unity
  • Setting up and fixing the technical layer — mesh colliders, collisions, navigation
  • Making sure our gameplay systems actually get used in the spaces you build
Who we are looking for?
  • A real eye for gameplay-driven design — you build spaces that shape how players move and fight, not just spaces that look good
  • Hands-on Unity: scene assembly, asset integration, and collider setup
  • The ability to diagnose and fix collision and navigation issues — and understand how they actually work
  • Awareness that multiplayer maps have different demands than single-player
  • You take creative direction and iterate on feedback without ego — the producer signs off on every map
  • You’re careful in shared Unity scenes and communicate before you touch other people’s work

Nice to Have

  • Online multiplayer map experience — spawns, balance, sightline management
  • Unity navigation / navmesh experience
  • A portfolio of playable levels — itch.io, game jams, or shipped maps

The Schedule — Please Read

This is a part-time seat with set hours. You must be able to work this schedule reliably:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST (US Central Time)
  • Saturday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM CST (US Central Time)
Why Join Us?
  • Proven concept — we’re past “will it work.” We run multi-hour public playtests on a stable build
  • Real traction — an existing player base waiting on every release
  • Festival momentum — currently leading indie games festivals, with more submissions in flight
  • A senior team worth learning from — you’ll be guided, not thrown in the deep end
  • Your name on a real, shipping title for your portfolio

This isn’t for you if you design pretty rooms with no gameplay purpose, or go quiet when you’re stuck. If you understand that a great map is what makes a system come alive — we want to talk.
